WSF19 - The 2019 edition
Consent, limitation, erasure, portability and various other rights. User is central and must be facilitated in the exercise of their rights. Then, just build a very informative and truly user-friendly control panel and you're sorted? Negative, those are obvious chores, not the core of data protection. The heart of people's privacy is somewhat away from them, lying in every small computing device concealed somewhere, which is yet collecting, processing and possibly trading peoples' personal data with the big network. We need security at every single spot of such a tight-mesh net that's empowering (or shackling!) us perpetually. That's a yet wider perspective than the tried IoT security headache, put at stake by the need for automation and even by the very cars that we drive everyday. The same perspective even bears robots as nodes to be secured in various scenarios. And, (of course!) also images, which may tell a great lot in case of forensic analysis.
