WSF09 - The 2009 edition
Certification arguably is of great help for security in the broad sense - security often reduces to reliable associations between two peices of information, and certification is exactly there to ensure this basic capability. The implementation of a certification service can be shown not to be trivial but, worse still, its adoption for non-wired settings such as manets or mesh networks doesn't seem realistic. In line with its provocative title, this year's workshop will be investigating at the croassroad between certification and its alternatives, shifting from the main issues in implementing a certification authority, via the basics of mesh networks, through to the use of identity-based crypto for onion routing, and finally to an upgraded routing protocol to promote collaboration in manets.
