From 2011, the ECAL conference series has united with the International Society of Artificial Life (ISAL).

ISAL is an international professional society dedicated to promoting scientific research and education relating to artificial life. In particular, ISAL organizes the biannual International Conference on Artificial Life (Alife series) and publishes the preeminent scholarly journal Artificial Life through MIT Press (also publisher of the ECAL proceedings this year).

To become an ISAL member, please visit the MIT Press website (http://www.mitpressjournals.org/loi/artl) and subscribe to the Artificial Life journal. The subscription fee of the journal includes your ISAL membership.

Membership to ISAL provides:

  • a 1-year subscription to the Artificial Life journal;
  • discounted registration at major conferences on artificial life, such as the Alife series, and now ECAL.

Thus before you register to ECAL 2013, you can decide to become a member of ISAL, or renew your ISAL membership in order to benefit from the reduced registration rates marked “ISAL” above. Otherwise, the “non-ISAL” rates apply.

Please contact society@alife.org if you are unsure about your ISAL membership status.

The ECAL 2013 conference is pleased to give artificial life researchers the opportunity to organize satellite workshops and tutorials in two “bookend” sessions, on the first day and last afternoon. Accordingly, it also offers attendees the possibility of a special reduced registration rate (variable by category) for anyone who wishes to come to these sessions only, but not to the main conference.

The 1 day workshops-only rate gives you access to all workshops taking place on September 2 (morning and afternoon) or September 6 afternoon — excluding the period from September 3 through September 6 morning. It includes all coffee breaks for both days and one lunch.
