Journal-First Track

Submission deadline: 25 May 2025
Questions to:   journal-fois2025@easychair.org

The FOIS 2025 journal-first track provides a forum to discuss recently published research on topics related to formal ontology for broader dissemination within the FOIS community. The track invites submissions of extended abstracts of papers that have appeared or have been accepted for publication in journals and have not been presented previously at a conference with formal archived proceedings.

Accepted proposals to this track will be presented as oral or poster presentation during the conference (either on-site or online, as preferred by the presenter).
A 1 page abstract for each accepted proposal to the track will be published on the conference website.

At least one author of each accepted journal first proposal is required to register for the conference to present the work (on-site or online).

Expected contributions

For the journal-first track, we solicit submissions that meet the following criteria:

  • They relate to the topics of the FOIS conference (see FOIS 2025’s call for papers).
  • They are not extensions of an earlier conference or workshop paper with formal proceedings.
  • They must have been published in a journal in 2023 or later.
  • They contain novel scientific contributions.
  • Submissions that are in press can be submitted provided the final camera-ready version is available.

Submission

Submissions must be done electronically via EasyChair and include:

  • A cover page (single page) listing:
    • the original title of the paper;
    • authors;
    • bibliographic references to the paper such as DOI of the original publication or, alternatively, a link to the publication at the journal’s website;
    • and a statement that this article is not an extension of an earlier ontology-focused conference or workshop paper
  • A one-page extended abstract of the paper. The extended abstract should present the main contributions of the paper, discuss the relevance of the paper to applied/formal ontology, and explain the significance of the results.
  • The full article is to be uploaded as supplementary material.

The materials must be submitted, through the EasyChair conference system at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fois2025.

All submissions (cover page, abstract) must be formatted using the one-column CEUR-ART style. The template for CEUR-ART can be downloaded here or authors may start from this Overleaf page.
