The ECS also provides an opportunity for guidance on professional,academic lives and future perspectives,&nbsp; and facilitates networking within the formal ontology and information systems\u2019 research community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The symposium covers the same topics of interest as the main conference and is primarily directed at PhD students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FORMAT<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>The ECS will be held on-site during the FOIS 2025 conference and will include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mentoring Lunch<\/strong>:&nbsp;ECS participants will be paired with senior researchers who will offer feedback on their work and provide academic or professional advice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fast-Talk Session<\/strong>:&nbsp;Participants will have the opportunity to advertise their work in a 5-minute speech to the conference\u2019s main track general audience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Poster Session<\/strong>:&nbsp;A traditional format where participants can display and discuss their research in more detail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The ECS offers a unique occasion for the next generation of FOIS researchers to network and advance their careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IMPORTANT DATES<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Submission deadline<\/strong>:&nbsp;<s>30 March 2025<\/s> 28 April 2025 <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Notification of acceptance<\/strong>:&nbsp;<s>19 May 2025<\/s> 2 June 2025<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>To participate in the ECS, candidates need to submit a summary of their research project, 5-9 pages, with at least 4 content pages. These summaries will be published as poster papers in the CEUR-WS FOIS proceedings.
