Short bio. is a post-doc researcher in Computer Vision and Adjunct Professor of Statistical Laboratory at the University of Catania. He has been working in the field of Computer Vision research since 2012, when he joined to the IPLab (Image Processing Laboratory). He obtained the Master Degree in Computer Science (summa cum laude) from the University of Catania in March 2015. Alessandro was awarded with the Archimede Prize for the excellence of academic career conferred by the University of Catania in 2015. Along the way he has done two research internships at STMicroelectronics in 2011/2012 and at TIM in 2015. In January 2019 he has achieved the PhD in Mathematics and Computer Science granted by TIM. The PhD thesis investigates several aspects related to Visual Sentiment Analysis applied on crowdsourced images/videos. His research interests lie in the fields of Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Multimedia. Alessandro is reviewer for several International Conferences and Journals, co-editor of PATTERNS 2017, lecturer at SIGMAP 2019 and member of the Scientific Committee of the MULTIFORESEE 2019 Conference (MULTI-modal Imaging of FOREnsic SciEnce Evidence tools for Forensic Science). He is co-author of 15 papers published in international conferences, 4 journals and co-inventor of 1 International Patent. Alessandro is also member of several international associations/societies such as IEEE Signal Processing Society, CVPL (Italian association fo the research in Computer Vision, Pattern recognition and machine Learning), CoEHAR (Cennter of Excellence for the Acceleration of HArm Reduction) and REPRISE ( expert reviewers for research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research).
